Postby Kylea » Thu Jul 02, 2009 5:47 pm

Hi guys,

noticed my power steering is down and needs a top up. It is a blue green colour -Does anyone know what the recommended power steering fluid is for a 1995 TD MU. :?:

If its a very pale green its a specialised fluid I think made by nulon but the correct fluid by the book is dexron 2 ATF.
The special fluids do help prevent leaks and sticky valves in the steering box. The big plus with the special fluids though is that you can buy half a liter so if you have a manual you dont have lots of spare fluid.
As you dont know what is in the reservoir now I would be draining as much as I can before refilling just in case its not compatible with the new fluid.
Im useing a lucas power steer oil at present but its still red

Thanks all - yes I will drain out the old - don't know what it is it is somewhere between dark green and blue (nasty holden dealers put it in I think - blah) - so will get the right stuff by the book for my MU -->dexron 2 ATF :-)

Its probably a perfectly good and suitable oil Its just that we dont know what it is. If you can find out from whoever put it in there what it is you can use the same stuff if it sounds suitable
