should it suck? solenoids question

Postby tomiasorensen » Thu Jul 16, 2009 6:30 am

Hi,

I posted a problem with 4X4 not working a few weeks ago and have been underneath to haev a little look. I wanted to check something out.
The TOD vacum thing on the front axel has 2 solenoids which presumabley apply a vacum to one side or the other of the diaphram. On my car, not matter what position the various buttons and leavers are I only get a vacum being applied to one side of the diaphram. One solenoid is not doing it at all. There is a vacum on the other side of the solenoid so its getting to it but not anyfurther. IS this normal? does the car have to be moving or something for this to be activated or is this in fact the problem? I wiggled things and tapped things fairly enthusiasticaly to no avail.
Does anyone no what pipe is meant to be doign what at what time?
