Transfer case problem

Postby kingman » Sun Sep 20, 2009 11:16 pm

I have changed my transfer case Transfer Case bearings about 2 yrs ago after i realised that i would be driving on the highway and the 4x4 sensor would come on by it self yet the vehicle was not in 4wheel drive. This would alos make a clicking noise as the light toggled from off to on. Also The entire back of the van was bathed in gear oil from I suspect the transfer case. The case was open up by the machanic and the bearings changed in the transfercase.

Yesterdar the same problem appeared while cruising on the highway sensor light intermittently on and clicking sounds as it appears and disappears, a look under the trasfer case shows the gear oil once again...So I suspect it will be the same thg again bearings damged and stuff.Does anyone have any idea y this continues to occur?

What I realised about this setup is that the tranfer case cannot be replaced by it self.Is it time i investigated replacing this gearbox? Im pretty tired of this now I really am..:(

Auto or Manual?
Could be just seals but could be worse

They should last for years. If you take it apart, check all the shafts are straight as a bend shaft could be flogging out the bearings and seals.
Oh how i miss my mu, the lux is just not the same :(
