check trans light flashing

Postby Hamdog » Thu Mar 19, 2015 7:36 am

ok so my wizard was idling pretty high (1100 rpm) so i decided to adjust the idle screw and get it idling where the manual says it should be (750) but now when its idling the check trans light flashes, as soon as i touch the accelerator tho the light goes out until it starts idling again

is there some sort of vacuum that goes to the trans that isnt getting enough at low idle or something? thats the only thing i can think of for the light coming on while not even driving the damn thing :/

I have the same issue, was idling at 1000rpm now I've adjusted it to 850rpm and the check trans light flashes at idle.

interesting
Was taking my son for a driving lesson last weekend and it did the same slowing for a corner but only that once for about 5 seconds. This was only 1km from trip start. Ive just had the injector pump redone and it is idling slower than it used to. There is a way to read the codes but not sure of my head how to do this

is mine getting better or worse or is it just because of cold weather. When cold ie parked all day or night then driven up to 2km max if you have to stop or slow the trans light flashes. After that its fine. Fluid is normal level and was changed 6 months ago along with the filter but the fuel pump was rebuilt just before this started. Touching the throttle stops the flash.
The big question is Im going down the south island in 2 weeks. Should I take the bighorn instead in which case my skis will be traveling on the wifes lap.
What are others thoughts?

Could try that. Went hunting for the terminal to short to get the codes but couldnt find it. The manual I have shows the ecm on the oposite side of the steering wheel and a small connector loose near it.
Any clues?

TPS adjustment will make the check trans light flash, to adjust it you need to insert a piece of wire into the middle wire on the connector and with the ignition on but not running you should have 0.3 to 0.5v and then 4.5v or above at full throttle. If you have less than 0.3v at idle the check trans light will flash.

hmmm so this problem is back again . i just upped the fuel and then went to adjust the idle because more fuel made the idle go up so i dropped the idle down to where it should be and have this issue again but anything under 1000rpm and it flashes on and off but as soon as the revs get above 1k it goes off :/

recheck the voltage. Mine does the same but only when very cold. Must adjust it before winter

This stream was a big help. Had the same thing after adjusting the fuel as my truck was running lean. Backed the idle screw all the way off so i was idling just under 800. Like the whole way. Test drive and "Check Trans" came on.

Re adjusted the idle screw so it was just touching the throttle, idle now just over 800 and no more light.

Great success. Cheers team.
