Manual Conversion

Postby Downhillnz » Mon Mar 23, 2015 8:50 am

I'm looking to sell the gearbox and all the required gear out of my Petrol Parts truck to a mate with a 3.2 v6 auto.

Will my manual box and flywheel bolt up? Or will i need to swap out the bellhousings?

Cheers

That seems like a poor design? Are the bellhousings the same thru the variation of the motors they used in that platform?

Pretty sure (I have been known to be wrong more than once  ) there is only one asin model gearbox with a removable bell housing. All the rest (petrol and diesel) were intergrated with the front housing

4jb1 4jg2 4jh1 have same bellhousing, 4jx1 fits 4jb1 bellousing with a plate and drilling holes out, 6vd1 and 6ve1 look to be the same bellhousing but i stay away from petrols, 4ze1 is different to all of them also, none of the bellhousings are removable, mate cut his 4jb1 bellhousing and welded a v6 auto bellhousing on so he had a v6 bighorn and worked well

How different is the 4ze1 to the rest? Like wont fit without a cut and weld? I have the box out of a 4ze1. It seems to be rather light as well.

So the bellhousing looks like it splits at the center of the box. Which is normal from my experience. (Worst case I will get it cut and welded)

Will the 4ze1 flywheel bolt up to a v6 bighorn motor?

Interchangeable bell housing on other vehicles that I have played with (Holden's, fords, etc) unbolt from the gearbox at the front leaving the rest of the gearbox complete with the input shaft exposed Isuzus split the actual gearbox Be careful with cutting and welding - even a couple of mm out will give you clutch wear problems
