Recommended wheel size (steelies)

Postby jafaandproud » Sun Oct 11, 2015 2:43 pm

Hi everyone,

I am wanting to get some steelies for my UBS69 LWB. Factory alloys are getting pretty cut up and gouged out from all the rocks on the central otago trails/rivers

I have a 2" suspension lift, and am running 265/75/16 muds. I'm wanting to keep these tyres as they are only a few trips old.

Just wanting to see what offset is recommended to keep good clearance, and whether its worth going to 8" wide (factory is 7)? I'd be sticking with 16" to keep my current tyres.

Thanks in advance

I'd also like to know what off set will best suit my truck 1990 bighorn? I'd like to go 15" rims though.

Are you fitting flairs?
I dont know the offsets but if you put a straight edge across the back of the rim and measure in to the bolt flange this back spacing is required to clear the rotors etc. Anything wider requies all the extra width on the outside.
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

1990 bighorn can run +13 15x7 they are just inside the gaurds with 31x10.5.15 tyres, 15x8 0 offset is around 6mm outside the gaurd with same tyre, i have both rims currently have 15x8 -8 with 33x12.5x15 and are around 60mm outside the gaurds, for the ubs69 some 16x8 0 offset should be fine as the body panels are wider if you have one with factory flares
