Clutch Pedal Spring

Postby WestOz » Sun Jul 17, 2016 1:44 pm

Changed out the master clutch cylinder on my TF Rodeo and I can't see how the clutch pedal return spring should be fitted. Of course it sprung out when I removed the pedal box without me seeing how it was placed and now I cant figure out how to re-tension it so it pushes the pedal back.

Any help gratefully accepted. A picture would be good. My Haynes manual doesn't show anything.

Cheers

Ok found a pic of my parts showing the spring type that I have. I see there are a few variations. Hopefully the pic shows up below, though I may be doing the image hosting wrong.

If I load the spring back into the pedal it will hold it up, but as soon as I press it the tension is lost and the pedal doesn't return. The spring in the master cylinder isn't strong enough to push it back. I'm really lost on how it goes together.

Figured it out!!! I did have the spring in correctly (as you see in the photos). Problem was I had still to bleed the lines, so I wasn't getting the push back from the clutch springs. With the lines all bleed it works as expected.

The times I did a clutch master I didnt remove the pedal box. Just removed the rod from the clutch pedal.
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
