If its been filled with the wrong fluid damage will have been done. The correct fluid is Dexron3 which is a red colour. If its blue its Ford fluid and will of broken the clutches. If its brown it was the right stuff but the box is worn out

had Dexron III at hand now, the problem is how to change ATF properly then markings hot and cold level confuses me.
Are the levels checked while engine are running in park or neutral gears???
Are hot and cold markings on the dipstick indicate hot and cold weather or engine itself??? Appreciate your feedback guys.

Hot and cold markings on the dip stick are engine temp, not outside weather temp.
I live in my own little world, but its OK they know me here.

actualy gearbox temp.
Start with everything cold and fill to the cold line then give it a 20km drive and recheck and top up as needed. Fluid level is checked with engine idleing in either neutral or park

Done as directed, she has improved her pick up and improved power. They may have filled it with the wrong ATF too, she's been running with wrong ATF and too much in her system. I don't know if it has done damage already in the transmission.

Thanks for the help guys. Thanks a lot geeves.

work requires me to be away awhile...took me so long to reply.

It was apparent that the Atf was originally brown but looked blackish already. (Note:we filled it with a red color oil Dexron III)
TIA

Burnt fluid is an indicator or a bad transmission sorry. If its running ok now leave it till it breaks but start saving for an expensive repair.
sorry

Hi, could you please help me, how much litres or quarts of ATF for my Isuzu MU 4GJ2?
The Problem is when the transmission is cold it shifts properly up to 4th gear,
If its hot the trasmission only shifts up to 3rd. wont go up 4th.
