Transmission problem with reverse

Postby macman » Tue Mar 07, 2017 7:44 pm

Hi all, I'm having problems with the reverse gear in my auto in my Isuzu MU 1999 2.8l. The problem I've got is I have all forward gears and Hi Lo but when I select reverse it doesn't seem to fully engage it moves the car but only very steady as though it is slipping. The oil is new and clean, I've checked the linkages and they are firm and seem to be okay. any help would be apprieciated. Does anyone know where I can get hold of a repair manual for this car or gearbox?

I had a similar problem, turns out the foward gear clutch was constantly engaged, one tiny ball bearing had fallen out of place (pressure relief i believe) and was stopping the piston cylinder from disengaging.
