Shift on the fly

Is this meant to allow you to change to 4WD while still moving?

High range only. Still have to stop to put in or out of low range

Bother, it doesn't. Both VSV's down the bottom click when test power is applied and sounds like something is moving.

I read that as 4wd not working
First look for vaccum leaks to the solinoids and make sure you have vaccum there with the engine running
Jack up the left front wheel and rotate it. It should turn the cv but turn freely. With engine running engage 4wd neutral (does 4wd light come on?) and turn wheel again. It shouldnt turn. If it does does the other cv or driveshaft turn? If other cv then problem is in rh hub. If driveshaft turns problem is in gearbox. If nothing turns problem is in activating box etc

I have changed most vac lines, only a few good ones where left. There is vacuum there but doesn't seem much to me (working with near perfect vac every day). I do get the 4wd light. I will try the hubs.

if you get the 4wd light on steady then the dog clutch in the axle thinks it is locking correctly. Is yours a button or lever to activate?

Next test
Find the vac line into the hub assembly. Note where it was then disconect and connect directly to either side of the diaphram leaving the other side open to air. With engine running try the wheel lock test again. If it fails connect to the other side of the diaphram and test again. Return all hoses to original positions.
When I had a wizard I killed the blue vsv as well and replaced it with one from a pajero at the wreckers.

Is there a controller or is it direct from the switch on the manual gearbox? Currently its making no sense whatever. couldnt get it into 4wd then couldnt get it out. The vsv's and the diaphram are working and plumbed correctly. It seems that the vsv's are not getting energised/deenergised at the right time. Any idea where the wiring for the vsv's is routed?

ps I have the bighorn manual, in which it looks like the vsv's are either on or off at the same time, just the plumbing is reversed for one. is that the same on the wizard?

ppss SOLVED! Found a couple almost cut thru and mashed wires when i took the second battery out. Soldered it all back together and poked it all back into the conduit. It works now.

A good result is a good result.
I went through the same with my wizard when I had it and went to the point of running a manual switch to test things. It proved the fault into the gearbox switch but before I got round to pricing one I realised how nice it was to have low range 2wd when maneuvering trailers etc. 5 years later that houshold light switch was still blue tacked to the dashboard
