Inner CV boot

Postby magicdeo » Thu Feb 22, 2018 7:51 am

Gday. Im going to replace the inner cv boot on my 97 2.8 rodeo. Does the cv have to be removed to do this or can i split the CV? Or will the boot slide over?
Cheers

If you buy standard type boots you need to split the inner cv. If you buy one of the modern strechy boots they can be replaced without doing this. However I used one strechy boot once and split it in 2 months. It looked llike a stick or something snagged it. Also you still have to drop the front hub assembly and its only one more spring clip to get the inner section of the cv out. Strechy boots are $45 plus hiring the special tool standards are $15
Replace both boots at the same time every time
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
