auto box engaging low 4wd

can some one help ive had a bighorn 31d auto for a few months
and never used 4wd on it now dew to bad weather i now need it
i cant select low 4wd only high am i doing somthing wrong
it goes straght into high no probs but when i try to shift the stick into low
it seemes to be solid and wont move into low at all am i donig somthing wrong
or in the wrong gear im selecting low on the auto box is this right all my hand books
are in jap so i have no reference my self

You need to be stationary and I think in neutral. If it doesnt work its a problem with the selector or box. For driveing on snow covered roads 4high is fine for now although not ideal. Fix it properly before next winter which due to global warming will be even colder
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

thanks it worked fine by selecting neutral drove very well on ice and deep snow thanks again dale
