Steering Shaft Knock After 2" Body Lift

Postby dasnoboarder » Tue Jan 12, 2010 5:52 pm

Hey all,

Just finishing last bits of my 2" body lift,

Having trouble tracking down a steering knock. It is a slight thud at the same place on the steering wheel/shaft, can't see the shaft hitting anywhere.

I disconnected the shaft from the steering box while lifting, and when reattaching, pulled it down slightly into place.

Anyone had this before, or have any ideas?

Cheers,
Andy

Removed shaft from box, and reattached.

The clunk at a certain point in steering wheel has gone, so I took it for a drive.

Seems to have the same clunk randomly over bumps when driving along, and some parts of the steering are tighter than before.

Is this just due to the new angle of steering shaft? Will it wear in over time?

Check the U joint in the steering shaft
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

I've done it a couple of times too,

Sometimes if you push submit, and the page doesn't seem to load, so you push it again, it ends up posting twice...

No worries, but a delete post button would be helpful

Just so you know there is a little X in the right hand corner of the post you just made which will delete the post but will only stay there until somebody posts after it.
