Isuzu MU 3.1TD 1994 front suspension parts

Postby MU31TD » Wed Feb 03, 2010 4:53 pm

Hey, I recently found that ball joints are had enough. Also replacing brake rotors and pads.

I couldn't find any parts for MU but I found that Holden Jackeroo has the same (similar) front suspension
(Rodeo parts are different, apparently).

I found a place that can get some but they are asking which model Jackaroo... I saw before that it is UBS55 but not 100% sure if that's the right one.
Thanks

ubs 55 is correct. 88 - 91 jackeroo. I would be suprised if the rodeo parts are different

Cool, I got the same answer from Gemini Auto Spares in Sydney. Seems like ball joints and tie rod ends on MU are the same as Rodeo but the brakes are bigger then Rodeo's. So 3.1 Mu takes rotors and pads off UBS 55 Jackaroo.

Prices are pretty good at Gemini.

I had CV joints sent to service and one of them was rooted. So they gave me a pair off another car. Chinese bloke said they gave me Jackeroo ones. Those fit fine except they are slightly different at the hub. They don't have a lip to cover seals and the seals are now fairly exposed.

Is it ok to leave it like that?

Sorry Ive put you wrong I missed the brakes. The 3.1 Mu is a mix of parts
Suspension == UBS55 88 - 91 jackeroo and rodeo etc
Brakes for the 3.1 = UBS 69 Jackeroo only You have much bigger front discs and callipers and your rears incorporate a small drum for the handbrake
I hope the CV joints were factory Isuzu not aftermarket. The aftermarket ones break easily. My bighorn ones have a lip over the seal. Ive had a clicking CV for years It was a replacement after my old one wore at the needle roller race It was free as it was full of sand when I got it but it still cleaned up ok except for the click under load

The brakes are perfect fit from UBS 55.

I had another look at CV's it today and looks dodgy the way it is right now. the seals are open and there's nothing to prevent dust from getting in. And if drive into water it'll flow in freely. I'll go to those china men next week and get the proper ones instead.

So which ones should I ask for UBS 55 or UBS 69?

if you have a look in the FAQ there are a stack of part numbers. I have the same car and just did my ball joints and tie rod ends, bought them all from pedders. Pissy put the part numbers in the FAQ for everyone to access!

UBS 55
There must be a few variants of the 3.1 MU. I used a complete suspension leg from a 3.1 MU on my 89 bighorn. Everything fitted fine untill I got to the brake calliper. The disc on the Mu hub was 2cm bigger diameter and half a cm thicker. Had to strip the whole thing down again to change the disc with my original one. One corner of the bighorn has the 3.1 cv, stub axle hub assembly and bearing but not brakes.

The 3.1's definiatly have bigger brakes in the front (280mm) and the rears are ventlated.

2.8's have 257mm front and solid rear.
