nachi's - 1990 bighorn

Postby nachi » Sun Apr 04, 2010 8:18 pm

Ok, thought I'd better post something..

Owner - Walt, Christchurch, NZ
1990 Isuzu Bighorn - 140000kms (??)
UBS17 - Lotus Edition <--?
Owned for about two years - keeping it
Paid 1500 - spent more :)

Work done:
new head, cam-belt, belts, oil changes, left upper and lower ball-joints,
rear drive-shaft uni, front break pads, front break hoses, rear shackle bushes,
coil, leads, ignition module, 2 tyres, rear LSD, oil, 1 bulb, ....

Not too bad for two years..

Work to do:
make front bull-bar with winch mount, winch, front auto locker,
extended rear shackles, crank up the front, two tyres up front to match rears,
find a 15" rim for spare (current is factory 16"), make a snorkel,
make rear bumper, right upper and lower ball-joints,
find some better rims and get some muds,
get the stupid electric windows working... give it a wash.

Should keep me busy..

Now that I've got it reliable I'm looking to go off-roading a bit more.
Just a daily driver that takes me hunting and fishing.

Modifications and Accessories: Rear LSD,
Suspension: stock
Body Lift: none
Tyres/Wheels: 31-10.5x15 AT's on ugly rims.
Traction Aids: LSD in the back - stock up front

Engine: 2.6lt petrol (AZE1) - stock

Hi Greeves..
I wouldn't know.. Its the first Isuzu I've owned. Bit of a headache to begin with but its getting there.
Not sure what the Lotus extras are.. probably the bloody electric windows.. haha

I think that the Lotus reference is suspension related.

hi
found the electric winders to last better if you lubricate the frame rubbers with silicone spray.. 11 years and 461000km and working good and fast

Well.. looks like this ones heading to the parts bin.. driving back from the coast and it started running a bit rough.. will pull the Isuzu to bits to see whats wrong but might end up scrapping it.. Will update with a parts list at a later date.. Got a Hilux lined up as a replacement.. sorry :)

Ok so I understand that the petrols models are ubs17 chassis and the diesels are ubs55, but does anyone know if the bullbar mounts are identical? If so, if you wreck your truck I could be interested in the winch mount depending on how much you would want for it...
