Just got a 1996 Wizard

Postby Finmcds » Tue Nov 16, 2010 9:29 am

Its black and a silver kinda colour and looks pretty good. It has a nice set of bull bars with some little blue spot lights.

Shes done 238'Ks but has had one female owner serviced it and all who imported it to NZ in 2000. Before that is unknown.

Its got the 3.1 Turbo with no intercooler and huge air intake ducting going accross the top of it. Intercooler and pod filter and boost gauge would be nice one day.

First things I have done to it is clean it up install new sterio and after market dish steering wheel.

Oil and oil filter change, fuel filter, and air filter. Anything else i should change? The coolant looks in good to me.

And best of all I picked it up for $2100 NZD. Yeah!

I hope to get a mint set of fat tyres.

I am also working on a Hydrogen Generator to go in my engine bay. Sounds interesting.

thief

just joking Looks nice. Also do the fan belts and cam belt unless you know they are good.

forget the hydrogen generator the theory behind them is flawed.
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Hi all, thanks for your comments. Yes im pretty sure the owner had no idea of what it was worth. The paint work was pretty dull but a quick polish and wow she came up good.

I will get the trans fluid changed.

Why type of fluid should i use and how much do i need. is it about 8 litres?

All the belts still look new and according to the sticker under the bonnet the cambelt and water pump etc was done at 200 K's.

I took my truck into my local mechanics shop for a check up today. My steering seemed a little "drifty" so i had the steering box adujusted and tightened up. They also told me I need 2 new ball joints for my next warrant.

Any idea of how difficult a job that is?

Captcol what mistakes did you make with your truck?

lets see I have cooked wiring, I have tried to raise the torsion bars from the wrong end, I have a leak where I removed the egr, it took me ages to work out how to fix the Auto gearbox selector thingy, and I put 33' tires on which took a lot more work like triming the guards when 32's would have slotted under sweet. There is lots more that I can't remember right now as the Mrs is yelling at me

not that I have noticed, I have turned the stereo up as the 33" spare is a bit loose on the back and making too much noise so might be missing the whistle, I do have the whine on spin down tho ... a tad concerning
