MUtiny! Jo's new rig

Description:
Hi! My name is Jo. Im from Perth and I brought this 93' Isuzu Mu on saturday. The weekend before, I found this car, read all about it and got to the dealership where it was being sold at opening time and signed to buy. I have been luking on this forum for a week now getting to know more about this Mysterious Utility so i would be better armed. But when i first saw the pic, I found it irresistable and could not wait to purchase it. Also, my knowledge on cars and 4wd is small and limited. But i have done 4wd as I go with my partner. He is currently driving a Mitsubishi Pajero of similar vintage. He wasnt so sure about me driving this car, but i got it! Much to his dismay (I think)... I love driving this truck even though i have only owned it for about 24 hours LOL

The Car:
1993 Isuzu Mu 2.8ltr TD Utility
Roughly 287,000kms on the clock
AUTOMATIC :)

Modifications and Accessories: None that I can see

Suspension: Stock

Body Lift: It looks raised a little, is there anyway I can check?

Tyres/Wheels: Wheels look stock, tyres as in pics (no idea on the specs)

Traction Aids: (LSD, auto lockers or Air/electric lockers etc) no idea...

Bullbar: N/A

Spot lights and Lighting: N/A

Communications/GPS: N/A

Dual Batteries: N/A

Engine: 2.8 LTR TD... the belts look newish and the water pump looks ok also. I'd say i have brought it after the owner fixed it, so hopefully it doesnt need any more major work

Exhaust: Looks newish, when i get it serviced soon, i will know.

Sound system: Pioneer head unit, Clarion speakers, ipod input :)

External: N/A

Internal: It has a jeep sticker on the inside tailgate... does that count? LOL

The side view is from the dealer. It was really dirty and dusty with lots of small scratches. I buffed most of them out and washed, vacuumed, 2 coats of wax the car. It looks alot better now! I really love that black interior leather look!

Its not really a black coloured car, more like a deep navy blue? Does anyone know what colour this is called so i can get touch up paint for it? I would love to cover some of the deeper scratches. It has some rust bubbles along the top near the windshield but other than that, the engine bay and the rest of the car is really tidy.

My to do list:
touch up paint
get a nice nudge/bash plate in front and one of those nudge bars for the back.
maybe repaint the ute cover black again to make it look new
spotties
a major service.
to fix the rev tacho as currently it does not work
to buy a service workshop manual also
and a nice dash cover to stop it from splitting.
Yes my list is pretty pathetic, but these are the things that i think i can comfortably do now, without needing to rob a bank LOL

Does anyone know of a good place to service a MU that doesnt cost the earth? I am tempted to go to Automasters, but would like to know if anyone has had any good luck with mechanics etc.

So far i just want to make it into a reliable daily driver (have no problems yet), but want to make sure its all good before any major driving is done. Then I plan on doing some 4wd some where... maybe lancellin, but i would prefer dirt then sand.

Anyway, thats my rant! Cheers!

Thanks Stardog, im a wizz with the vacuum cleaner LOL... but i was lucky that this car probably has only been a daily driver. There wasnt much dirt, and the carpet is worn in some places. But nothing elbow grease couldnt fix :)

Nice looking rig.
Re paint. You wont be able to buy off the shelf but any reputable auto paint supplier should be able to make it from the paint code on the plate under the bonnet.

I cant help as to a good place to get it serviced but wherever you go if they start telling you its an import and everything is too hard/expensive do remind them its no different on the inside to a Jackeroo or Rodeo.

Re manuals Send me an email address and Ill send you all you need. There isnt a manual for the Mu but the Isuzu TFS ute manual covers 95%

i was thinking of going to Eagle one/Auto Pro for the paint touch up as i know they usually make car paint as we got all the paint we needed for when we touched up an old Datsun 180B. Loved that car too... I love how the MU was rebadged as a holden and how there is like 3 different holdens to pick parts from LOL....

I will send you a pm with my email, maybe i can get my tacho working ;)

Thanks for your help :)
Cheers!

Ahhh....tacho not working, had wondered why the dash photo had oil pressure but no revs showing.
Have never seen that grille before and the dash clock is reasonably rare (I think).

Yes the car is virtually badgeless exterior wise, but it has the sticker on the rear saying MU. The grill is odd also. The dash clock isnt actually a clock, but a little electronic device that says if my overdrive is on or off and something else, but i cant remember LOL.. I havent found a clock yet! LOL

This is an intresting rig as the covered ute body was only done in 89 and that was also the only Mu to have the 2.6 petrol engine except for the amigo in USA. Its possible to fit the ute back but its a lot of work as you have to cut the body.
