ezytiger83's MU

Postby ezytiger83 » Fri Mar 18, 2011 12:35 pm

Hi all, Matt here, figured it was time i posted some pics of the MU. Alot of the stuff i've done to it has been DIY, although I had to get someone else to weld the mounts for the new radiator. Some of you may (or may not) recognise the blue MU as Dean's or "umemu" from the old proboards. I bought it from him because i assumed it was shit hot, turns out it was just shit, if it was a dog it'd need to be put down. So since then I've been gradually scrapping it and transferring the good bits over to my black MU.

So far that's included: Intercooler, wheels, bullbar, airbags, bonnet+scoop, adjustable rear rancho shocks, handbrake cable, Icom uhf, oil catchcan.

Still to come from the blue MU: snorkel and guard after i paint it, and maybe the canvas seat covers.

Other stuff i've done: silvia alloy radiator+ shroud+ thermo fans, digital water temp gauge, onboard compressor and in cab controls for the airbags, new gas struts for rear glass, adjustable front rancho shocks.

Future mods: new winchbar and winch, side steps, rear bar, lockers. I might get a chip and tune eventually, as well as get the turbo rotated, tho it's fine as is for the time being.

Modifications and Accessories:

Suspension: Calmini lifted with RS9000 shocks front and rear. air bag leaf helpers
Body Lift: 50mm blocks
Tyres/Wheels: 285/75/16 Cooper ST
Traction Aids: none yet
Bullbar: not sure, came with blue MU, width matches guards, so don't think it's rodeo. has been modified to suit body lift
Spot lights and Lighting: none yet
Communications/GPS: plain navman and icom UHF
Dual Batteries: yes, manually isolated with switch in cab
Engine: intercooled 2.8Turbo Diesel
Exhaust: full 2.5 with dump pipe
Sound system: standard
External: bonnet scoop/powerbulge
Internal: Fridge centre console, air compressor+in dash compressor control

also should mention that i haven't got the thermoswitch connected to the fans yet, just controlled by button in dash. if anyone can tell me how to hook it up, please do, cos i don't have the know how, i'll prob get someone else to do that. I also have a calmini bashplate off the Blue MU, gonna bolt it on in the morning while it's cool.

cheers mate, still ongoing :) here's the calmini bash plate, lightweight alloy, attached to the thin factory plate, i won't be relying on it too heavily

haha, yeah i know, the blue one was manual and had a sunroof, fancy!!, but the cv's are long gone and the diesel pump has a real bad leak, would have been too much work to get it licensed here in wa. have u had many automatics? i haven't had too many dramas with the auto yet, seems pretty solid, gets the job done, i'm a fan :)

i never owned an auto but have driven a few petrol autos in my time, also heard many people complaining about them all bustin up n that, but im guessin the diesel auto would have to be more resilient, lower ratios may help dunno

Was the Calamini bash plate a perfect fit, any mods to bolt it on.
Wondering if it will fit a 3.1 MU as well?

Can you please let me know the details of that bash plate(model number/price, whatever info you have) I will add it to the parts list and maybe, get myself one too.

Cheers

i'm afraid i can't tell you too much about the calmini plate atm...what i know is that it does indeed bolt straight on to the calmini crossmember and the factory Calmini plate with little fuss. however, i don't know anything else about it, last time i contacted calmini in the USA, they had this to say (about their winch bar) :

Hello Matt,

Unfortunately, we had to discontinue our Isuzu bumper line about three years ago due to lack of consumer interest. You can view our entire Isuzu product lineup on our website at http://www.pureisuzu.com.

If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you for your interest in CALMINI Products!
Best regards,

Jake

Their current lineup doesn't include the bash plates, i'll shoot off another email, but i fear they will have the same response. I'll also see if dean can recall where he got it from, and get back to you.

Hello Matt,

Everything that we still offer for the Isuzu vehicle line is on our website at http://www.pureisuzu.com.

We do not have any stock leftover for the bumpers, and we do not make proprietary information (like part designs) available to the public.

I’m sorry I can’t help you with your request.

If you need anything else or have any additional questions, let me know.

Thanks again!

Jake
