Its the original flathead 'Go Devil ' 2.5 litre gasoline engine . Costs a fortune to run .....no carb , just a bucket ! All the kit on board is original issue ...even the radio still works ( couldnt get a reply though) .

pity it would be so wrong to drop a 4jb1 into it. With such a nice restoration you just have to keep it standard
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Haha ...yep the same the thing had crossed my mind ....just for the sake of economy but it would spoil the sound effects and the looks on folks faces as it leaves everything behind at traffic lights .Fortunately the price of gasoline is not so much of an issue over here. By the way ........ its not restored ,i just keep it in 'oily rag' condition . There were even some US mailbags and a set of tools in the underseat lock up box.

Every one of those over here is either a full expensive restoration or such a bucket of rust its beyond saving
Your lucky to have such a nice one
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
