Had a WOF check done today and passed no dramas @ VTNZ. He did inform me that I will need to get a LVV Cert for the body lift asap. Its such a grey area when you actually look through the cert book. So might have to look into getting the cert done and costings for it?!?

no grey area for body lifts as of 1 nov 2013, all bodylifts must be certed, look around for cert costs as they can charge what they like there isnt a set price

Those steering links will also need cert

I was away on a weekend trip hence the surfboard. Got one more modification to do, then its call in the cert guy and spend $$$. My mate just priced a cert bloke from Gore and he charges $600 per vehicle regardless of if he comes up and looks at more then one vehicle on the day.

Geeves the rock garden is on a friends private land near Wanaka.

Muzilla the tie rods are from a company in the states called "Independent 4X4".

looks like fun. Pity I dont like taking the rough truck all that way. (no carpets mud tyres and louder exhaust gets on the nerves after a 10 to 12 hour drive)

Yeah sweet bars. Certs are a pain to sort at times. Best thing usally to do is talk to the cert guy BEFORE doing anything. That way you will know it's all good as you do it. rather than have to redo something.
But all looks pretty good.
Those steering rods look pretty easy to make. the hassle if you make them yourself though is convincing cert guy they are ok.
And $600 a cert?! Insane!
I think the cert system needs an overhaul.
you can turbo your car, change some mounts, fit different seats, mod the crap out of it. And the cert will cost the same if you just want to change some wheels.

remember where that money goes. Very little goes to the engineer. In Damos case though the engineer is comming up from Invercargil so a transport cost has to be paid for. The lions share goes back to LVTA which use it to fund research to fight Transport Safetys plan for things.
Remember without the LVTA which gets no funding except cert fees and donations by member organisations the only mod to discuss will be the width of the racing strip down the side of the otherwise standard vehicle

Hey I like the bar work on your truck, I am curious as to what you mounted your front bar to? Would you be able to post some pictures of where the mounts bolt to? I am keen to make a bullbar/winch bar for mine but am not sure as to what the best way to mount it safely and strong. Cheers :)
