97 White Rodeo Lowered on 20"s <3 of my life

Postby mikeyincredible » Mon Sep 19, 2011 1:46 pm

Had a time with this one. Took me 6 hours, $39.00, and 2 throbbing fingers lowering this :) but i wanted to be THE ONLY person where im from to have a dropped zuzu :D I read and read online and serched for people that had lowerd zuzu's and NO LUCK! most of them were bagged, or only had about a 1" drop. So i set off on a journey to help others out in the future to KNOW how to do it

Rolling on 20x10 wheels 8-)

What i did.... MORE PICS TO COME!

1. Went to my local AutoParts store got 3" lift blocks bolted them on top of the Leaf Springs with new U-Bolts
2. Took out the back bump stoppers and TRASHED THEM!
3. Jacked the front of the car up COMPLETLY OFF THE GROUND
4. Took out the front bump stoppers COMPLETELY
5. adjusted the torsion bar till i had about a 2" clearance between that top of the wheels and fender  (UNLESS YOU TAKE OUT THE BUMP STOPS YOU WILL NOT GET THE DROP YOU DESIRE! DONT BE SCARED JUST DO IT!
6. Sit it back on the ground and VIOLA! Nice low riding beauty  REAL HEAD TURNER!

Sorry for such bad pics...it was night when i got done. Ill be posting more pics tomorrow afternoon! I ended up getting a 4" drop in the front and about a 3 1/2" drop in the back. Believe it or not...its still handles WELL!

Car has 223K miles on the dash
Cold Air
Hot heat
PERFECT INTERIOR
BOOM BOOM IN THE TRUCK
not a drop of oil spilled NOWHERE on the engine. no leaks, no burning...perfect.
This was my first rodeo, and i love it...i have been a huge VW fan all my life and decided to get a isuzu for work purposes, and this is what happens to it after 6 months...Keep in mind it was stock. completely .

It does actualy look quite good. Is it 2 or 4wd? The few isuzus we see here have been really rough. Do remember that even with this mod it still isnt a race car. A full chassis etc push it close to 2 ton. It might handle better again with stiffer springs although its hard to find after market springs for a lowered truck

yeah i understand its not a racecar, and dont treat it like a race car. the previous owner was reallly good to it and took well care of it. as im doing the same engine wise...but i wanted to give her a new look. Its a 2WD 3.2L. I was looking and i did not see many of these on here. Thanks for looking at my stuff guys, its currently POURING RAINING and no way to take more pics :(

If you like the look of having side steps/rails put some of them on to give the impression its even lower again. Looks like a very tidy Truck, good job

If you change your tyre size you affect your gearing. Your 245x70x16s are about 28 inches in diameter. If you look up the tyres in the first post you will find they are about the same. The wheels and tyres do nothing to the ride hight except enhance how it looks. You can fit 245x40x16 tyres to your current tyres and it will lower the car about an inch and a half but it will also mean your speedo is saying 100kph while your doing about 80

That looks quite good!
I have been thinking of lowering my SWB frontera for a while and this just confirms how good it would look.
