Thanks stardog thats a good price but Id have to wait about a week for postage (mrs needs the truck for work)........ a mate is picking up for me today :hitachi 12volt 80 amp ALT7055R-80 in darwin.
I have tried a little problem solving today:
- removed pwr steer/AC belts, ran motor & glimmer sound still there
- removed clutch fan & tightened nuts on water pump pulley, ran motor & glimmer sound still there
- removed fan/alt belt & ran motor glimmer sound gone.
:P
So its got to be either the alternator which doesnt look old or the water pump?
so i removed both. BURSONs in darwin have a water pump for $100 which my mate should pick up today

Heres a weird one : when ran the motor with the fan/alt belt off the alternator pulley was slowley turning clockwise
will post some pics up later..

Muvit i had a noise from my belts or water pump to as i thought it was. i changed the water pump at the same time i checked timming belt looked a shot so i thought change it at the same time.
Found the noise was the bearing on the belt tensinor i was going to change it any way no more noise after i did if you still have the cover off the engine put the engine tdc and put the 8mm bolts in to lock yor pump and camshaft then lossen the belt and check the tesinor by spinning it just a thought fixed mine.

Before pulling apart this is a good test but too late now. A spray bottle of water Spray the belts with engine running. If your belts are like mine the noise will stop for 30 seconds or so. My belts are good and only a few years old (wizard they are under a year old) but corrosion on the pulleys mud road grime etc all roughen the surface making them noisy. Shell used to sell a product called dry lube that was a soft wax that would fix them for a few months Candle wax can also help Dont be tempted to use crc They will squeal like you wouldnt believe

all back together now & running well with no glimmer noise. The hardest part was parting $600 for parts & trying to put the washer & nut on the lower alternator bolt. With a little bit of skin of the knuckles it wasnt to bad a job, i hate to think what a mechanic up here would of charged

good news today. Rear shocks arrived & fitted at no labour cost. Seems to be heaps better on road, will test off road later this week. I didnt get a chance yet to see if the part numbers are the same.

got the fuel pump on the mrs wizard rebuilt the other week in darwin. It was slightly weepin diesel. Fuel pumps are beyond my capabilitie so i went to CATTLEDOG CONTRACTING. Took about 2 days to do. Very happy with the outcome. No more leaks, smooth idle & seems to shift up gears with more useable power.

$390 @ repco in darwin, ive already done it myself this year. But better to be safe then sorry as i dont intend to replace anything that bolts to the front of this motor for a while. Repco has their own kit that was similar that uses a GOODYEAR belt of $370

If thats the worst of the damage you could trim the blades with very little loss of cooling capacity. Have to get them very close to the same. Hilux unit is as good as the same but you have to replace the viscus unit as well. I have eaten a few fan blades due to hitting water a little fast and every one was different. Dont think any blade would fit any other viscus unit. I have a good blade here but the viscus is dead I will measure the hole centers on the weekend to see if its worth sending your way

The fan I have here has no numbers on it but it did come of a diesel isuzu of some sort. The viscus unit is deceased but the plastic bit is good It bolts to the viscus unit with 4 bolts with a pcd 135mm and the fan itself is 6 blades and 390mm diameter. If this is any help let me know and I will work out postage to you. I will only send the plastic part.

Why not just fit thermo fans on it instead i have with davis craig controler installed a off/on switch on the dash when going through water works a treat.
I still have the orginal fan in the work shop in case i wanted to change back but i broke the fan shroud when i took the old radiator out.
