got 4 new bilstein shocks installed this week. The rear feels a little bit to hard. The rear coils are old king springs fitted by previous owner/s? with monroe shocks. The monroe shocks were flogged out stuffed. The wizard now brakes & handles better at high speeds. There was a few bends on the hwy home where id usually sit on about 105km cause it felt like a bean bag, now i can sit on a 130km+ through those bends. When tested off road it feels good at high speeds say 40km to 90km on hard dunes (50cm high) & corugations. Havent tested on sand or rock yet.

could i get away with puting new rear coils in like flexicoils? Or will the valving in the shock need to be adjusted to soften up the rear. The previous owner said he used the wizard to tow around other project cars, maybe the rear coils are hduty kings? Any input guys would be appreciated cheers.

also tried lowering tyre pressure in increments of 2 psi from 38psi down to 25psi, which didnt make much of differance with the rear

Shocks make a huge difference. My wizard came with what measures as a 40mm lift No brand visible on the springs or shocks but it would bottom out on the smallest of bumps even with only me in it It wallowed like a whale on twisty roads. Changed the shocks to a pair off a swb v6 irmshire and its a different beast Stable at any speed and it only bottoms out fully loaded with camping gear and 5 people

ok rang king springs today.. They list two difèrent springs for holden frontera. Khrs-90 for pre 99 (which is in the rear of the mrs wizard) & kdrl-39 which is for post 99. They are both progressive coils . & the later is a softer spring & id lose about 20mm in height. From measuring the wizard height in a previous thread, i think the current springs have already sagged that distance. Any thoughts...

rang the suspension place a couple of times over the last week. Today they said its too hard to look for the old ones in the skip out the back... I wish that imported cars came with a harmonica in the glove box with a bottle of small batch bourban..

fan belt went on the way to work the other day in the wizard, it had the standard length belt on it & the adjuster bolt was maxed out.
I changed it with 15mm shorter belt as sugested by forum member. The symtons now are belt slipage on when motor is cold, I have adjusted it a couple of times tighter with no positive outcome. Now im getting worried as when driving with the windows down there is a slight holden 202 or glimmer whine.
any thoughts?
shocks may be in darwin this week, who no's? the camel might of got thirsty coming out of alice......

3 belts on the wizard. Did you replace all 3 and is the pair on the power steer aircon etc a matched pair? There is minor differences in length due to manufacturing and if its too much one belt will be doing all the work.

Muvit i got my alternator from these guys. 120 amp but the link is for a 80 amp.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Hi-Output-80 ... 1e6aa54012

If you like have a look at it a bit cheaper than $500 and i haven't had a problem with mine.
