a call or email to transport safety could be in order Its a bit stupid to have to certify it twice which would be the outcome of modding the mu then certifying then doing the body change then certing again.

Daisy should have a way round this. Im sure a panel beater would occasionally run into having to replace a chassis which would result in 2 numbers. Also try Ken McKadem in Lower Hut. Get his details from the certifiers list. If there is a way he would know it as hes highly involved in 4wds, kit cars and hot rods and wrote a lot of the rules

Just got this off the LVVTA forums

There is also the body swap which will need to be addressed before you have it LVV Certified. As the vehicle will have two identifiers associated to it (body and chassis each have an identification), one will need to be canceled, and the other one will need to be updated with the new details. This can be done at a VTNZ, VINZ, or AA Te=sting station. LVVTA check that this process has been completed prior to manufacturing the cert plate.

Don't know if this will be helpful? All seems a bit hard for such a easy swap

After lots and lots of research this is it i think hope it helps

LVVTA recommends to vehicle owners with incorrectly registered vehicles that this problem is sorted out
before it becomes a dilemma at LVV certification time. And fortunately, the fix isn’t a major.
LVVTA has worked through this with the key people within NZTA, and have agreed that such vehicles do not
usually need to become de-registered, and then subsequently re-registered in its correct description, as
some people have had to do in the past. The filling out of a form is all that is needed.

Affected vehicle owners should drop in to their local VINZ, AA, or VTNZ testing station with their vehicle,
collect an MR16 form, and complete that with the required information, before posting it through to NZTA.
In most cases there is little or no cost for this to be done, however this does depend on each testing
station’s individual policy. The testing station people will need to sight the vehicle, and may want to carry
out a basic inspection.

The whole process is relatively simple; however it can take a month to complete the paperwork, so vehicle
owners shouldn’t leave it until the week before that big event they’ve been planning to attend.

be cautious about that because utes have higher road user kms and rego so if it comes under a utility you may have that issue something else to look into

right 1c certification for ute cab on mu chassis alone and for ute cab on modified chassis you require the 1d certification and for both you need the mr16 from what info im getting currently

well i got my cert inspection today for my body and suspension lift my swaped rear diff and rock slides and bull bar not a problem but as for a cert ruling for diff and chassis swap what you must have is a live rego off the donor chassis as that is what the vechicle will become regesterd as mine is now an isuzu mu tfr so with the mu chassis a sas with leaves is fine but to go coil you need to start with the bighorn wof and reg and all body numbers certifier in whangarei is good to do all certs including 1d shane speight is his name if anyone needs the guy

well finaly i got mine certified for just the cab and lift so now have to converse with the certifier to see how to go about the sas but what held me up from wellington was my vin notes on the computer of vtnz needed changing to say that it had a cab conversion so all legal for now again
