5 Isuzus...

Postby BlairNZ » Tue Aug 14, 2012 4:49 pm

Hi, I'm Blair, and I have 5 Isuzus. Have been collecting since about 2004 and have had too many for parts etc during my time! (At one point I had 10 UBS55 Bighorns at home, some for wrecking and others were daily drivers etc...) Well I have just joined whilst in search of answers for an issue I am having with my latest Isuzu... Anyway, most of my trucks are pretty much standard but I will write a little about each one as I add pics...

This is my 1987 UBS55 Irmscher - I brought it in 2007 with a blown engine and fitted a 4JB1TDI engine from a 1991 Bighorn that I had rolled. This truck has been through the wars and is still road legal! It has:

15x8 alloys (5 of) running 31x10.5R15s all round
Safari Snorkel off a Nissan Terrano (modified airbox etc to suit)
Alloy bullbars off a Landrover (have been well used and abused over the years they have been on my truck!)
WRX front buckets seats
4x spotlights on the roof
plenty of other little things I cant think of right now!

recently rebuilt the engine

This is my latest Isuzu - needed an auto to get around in while recovering from an ankle reconstruction. Its standard as, just chucked a set of 15x8s and 31s on it

now for a couple of shots of my 2 river hacks - both Mus

The black one is a 1993 2.8 which I converted to manual and fitted an A-Frame mount and am slowly building a roll cage is. It has been running 15x8 whitespokes with 31s

The blue one is a 1995 3.1 manual which I had to rewire after someone cut the loom in several places for unknown reasons. It is running 16x8 alloys with 285/80 BFGs up front and 285/85 tractor grips on the rear

welcome on board. Your the first to admit to collecting Isuzus although I suspect there are others that have just as many but havnt admitted that they collect. I only have 2 myself. 89 bighorn that I bought 16 years ago and a 96 wizard bought last year to replace the family car.
A nice collection you have.

Haha thanks guys - I cant call it anything other than collecting when I have 5 of them... Apart from the black Mu, they are all currently running (the black Mu is currently sitting off to the side as I needed a few parts to get the blue mu going...) I actually want to pick up a couple more since parts are always required! I was trying to limit myself to just the 2 LWB pighorns and the 2 Mu's but sadly I destroyed my ankle and currently cant drive manual. Luckily my mate had the UBS69 sitting at his workshop available cheap as, so I grabbed it and am now considering finding a tidy LWB manual body to build as a daily as the UBS55 lacks modern comforts (having both models has shown me what I was missing by staying with the older style!)

Haha thanks! The flares are factory items on the Irmscher R but these ones are apparently replacement ones of the same thing (Hence not being colour coded) And the bull bars are Ali Arc's and were originally from a Mitsi Pajero - required some modification to fit though as the Pajero has a slightly narrower measurement between the bumper/chassis irons. When my mate first saw them, he asked if I stole them off a Kenworth truck! haha
