Isuzu mu 2.8td project

Postby mrMUMU » Fri Apr 11, 2014 10:11 pm

Hi, I thought it's about time I put some pics up of my isuzu mu 2.8td I have owned this for 5 years and has been a really good reliable car, I've changed a few things over the years but now it's time to change it and beef it up. I was going to sell it for a hilux but couldn't justify the price tags on them compared to what I can do to my mu for a fraction of the cost.

Future mods:

Engine: Top mount intercooler wrx
New turbo
EGR Removal

Suspension:
Front: torsion wind up 2" flipped ball joints
Rear: 2" rear leaf spring lift kit

Wheels tyres:
Standard rims
Mud tyres TBA

Body:
Bullbar
Repaint

Thanks muvit

Just completed the EGR removal, Somone had previously made some blanking gaskets and left all the hoses connected I was nerve able to work out why it would not idle and why it was really rough once I removed it as the this post explains viewtopic.php?f=19&t=1521 it is like a totally different car.

Next mod is a new turbo and intercoolet of a Subaru wrx

Here is some pics of my wrx inter cooler setup I just have to sort out the pipes from turbo to air filter box and the vacuum hose from the injector pump to intercooler other than that I'm happy with how it fits

Never considered the wrx intercooler because it normally sits the other way but it fits well. Just need to make some mounts now

hi geeves.
Yeah i have had it sitting in my garage for about a year, it came of my brothers subaru forester gt, the outlet to the isuzu mu intake chamber fits perfect i had to blank of the original intake hole and drill a new hole and attached a flange with a pipe on the side. although it sits longways not horizontal it clears everything and you can still remove the oil cap. i just have to make up some mounts and weld up a pipe on the back of the intercooler and add a pipe for a vacuum hose and I'm done.

i did not have to spin the turbo either
and i ill get a custom hose made up from the turbo to intercooler so it looks somewhat original.

I think the intake to turbo will have to be custom as well.

yeah i had to cut a hole with a hole saw and put a flange on the side of the tank (ill add pics) i will get a proper hose made up so it doesnt look dodgy.
