Spreys 98 Vehicross

Postby sprey » Sat Nov 28, 2009 5:41 pm

Well thought i might as well chuck in my rig too :D
Anyway
My Name is Aaron and im 18 and from Wellington., Ive had the vehicross since december 2008 only done about 7000k's in it soo far, and enjoying it greatly. I brought it as a Repo vehicle from Turners auctions, Tho funny enough i had my eye on a few of them tho at close to double the price i paid. So i basicly got a great deal!
Besides having to flashen the body up a bit on it and give it a clean.
The only 4x4ing ive done soo far is round part of Redrocks 3 times

Modifications and Accessories:

Suspension: Ome912 springs in Rear, Front bars cranked up to match, with a ball joint flip. IIRC gained around 60mm with the suspension lift.
Body Lift: None currently
Tyres/Wheels: Hankook 265/75/16 on 16x8 0 Offset rims.
Traction Aids: Stock Lsd rear and open front
Bullbar: None
Spot lights and Lighting: None
Communications/GPS: Will be incorporating a Cb radio at a later date.
Dual Batteries:
Engine: 3.2 Dhoc v6 (6vd1)
Exhaust: De cat'ed
Sound system: Kicker 4 inch in rear. Lanzar shallow front 6.5s in front. Running 2 headunits, Top one is the stock addzest unit which has a screen in it for the stock reverse camera. Didnt wanna loose that so i put in a single din sony headunit in the spare cubby hole below.
External: Custom Tow hooks front, Custom Rear hitch with slide in towbar and slide in recovery hook.
Internal:
Others:

Anyway for the pics

When i first got it and my first trip around part of red rocks.
Image

Got sick of the faded plastic look so went out and got a bottle of Mothers Naturely Black and smartened up the look of the car. - The celica next to it is my old car.
Image

Wanted to get it lifted so brought the Ome springs from G guy motors in town, then got them to lift it.
Image

Decided it looked a tad too skinny with the stock wheels.
So got my new rims put on- Imo its slowly looking meaner and meaner.
Image
Image

Went for the Wof passed all good besides my brake pads so got them replaced then my mechanic said to me about how much roadnoise my old tires were making and to be honest i wanted to replace them anyway, So ended up going with the Hankook Rt03.
Image

I wanted a towbar so i decided to go with a towhitch that can be hiden inside the rear bumper. Also at the time the enginners recommended that i have the chassis member strengthened.
Image

Then about a month or 2 later, Popped into Wellington Towbar services and got a custom front mount for the rated towhooks and a rear slide in took hook for the back.
Image
Image

One day was around Paraparaumu with some mates and was dicking around in the beach carpark and decided to drive up on the bank for a flex test. Then i realised i need to trim the inner wells at the rear. Luckily its plastic so easy as.

Basicly thats it for me really so far. Looking forward to doing some 4x4ing now since all the hooks and etc are done and meeting up with other Isuzu owners will be a bonus!.

Thanks Aaron.

Everyone else takes the picture from further back so you can see the whole rock but then the track looks dead easy. All my photos are from the other side which looks little more than a flat track.

Thanks Wayne :D

Well i finaly did some 4x4ing. and learnt quite a few things!.
1. how to air down the tyres etc :p.
2. driving on sand is soo weird but soo fun.
3. when attempting to drive up a sandback like everyone else dont pussy out and give it shit all gas otherwise you have to reattempt but on my reattempted ending up getting really far, shame theres no pics tho.
One of the guys in his jeep got real far up even past the sand but ending up breaking 1 of us uni joints in half!
But yea ended up going round with some of the guys from the Ore forum good bunch of dudes.
Had a good as time.
the 1st pic bank i drove up took me 2 guys but the 1st was realy just to get a feel of it.
loving 4x4ing now
