Cutting Bullbars AAARRRGGGG *8-)

Postby muzila » Wed Mar 20, 2013 4:08 pm

OK I have an ARB steel winch bar on the front of me MU. I have a 2 inch body lift to go in to said MU. ( finally after 3 years of waiting ).

Now I need to get my bars cut and lifted 2 inches to suit the body lift.
I like to hear from anyone that has already done this and how you went about it.
I have to be careful because of the winch so I can't just cut and stuff a plate in. It got to be done correctly.

Any help greatly appreciated!

Cheers

Graeme.

I made my bull bars before doing a body lift and as the main part was made of 6mm steel I welded a 50mm strip of 3mm along the top edge Seemed to come out ok

6mm plate with 4 holes 2 mount to the current mounts on the bar the other 2 to the mounts on the chassis with a spacer the same thickness as the mount on the bar
If worryed 6mm not enough use 10mm or 12
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

looked at that idea alan. Trouble is the ARB bars has a huge brace running across from one mount point to the other and the body mount points are also in the way. I see if I can find a camera and take some photos of the beasty. Its gotta come off anyway.
