No...changes to your body and chassis due to carnage does not count

mounting solid side steps on swb 94 bighorn

Next step in setting up the new wagon is side steps made from 40mm galv pipe with a 3.6mm wall thickness.
My plan for the front mount is an angle iron bar bolted to the rear 2 bolts for the gearbox cross member. Is this feasible?
Rear mount though has got me confused. I dont plan a body lift any time soon so clamping round the chassis is pretty much out. What have others done?
A few pics would be nice
thanks

Actually next step is flares made from plastic garden edging but thats a minor job in comparison

I don't have a body lift and clamped around the chassis rails.

I had to cut the pinch weld so the outriggers could clear okay.

I struggle to upload pics from my tablet so it will have to wait till a bit later on.

Did you mount these to the factory running board mount points?

Instead of cutting the bottom of the sill could you make lower profile outriggers by using 2 pieces of inch box section welded side by side for each one instead of 40mm tube? This should still provide the same or better strength.

current plan is to use the mounts from standard aftermarket alloy steps. They mount to exiting points no fuss and will allow a little flex. I would rather have a small gap and some flex to mounted tight and rigid. That method worked well on the old truck.
Just need some chronological gaps before I can build the steps. I have everything else.
