No...changes to your body and chassis due to carnage does not count

rattles rattles and more rattles

Postby geeves » Fri Aug 07, 2015 3:32 pm

After the lift i was left with a few extra noises.
3 main ones
First sounded like someone had taken an angle grinder to my teeth only at very certain revs and throttle settings. This one sounded the worst of the lot but turned out to be the rear number plate. Slight bend has fixed this
Second only at low speeds I thought was the drivers door lock but have proved to the rear window hinge. How do I get to this to tighten/ adjust?
Third one still needs finding. At above 85kph at just above contant speed cruising throttle the whole rear of the car buzzes like a ships horn. Move the throttle half a milimeter either way and it stops. My old bighorn made a similar noise if a rock got jammed between the exhaust and body but this one isnt going to be that easy to find. Any thoughts?

You need a co-pilot to hunt around the truck while you drive... My partner is very use to this procedure nowadays!
Lots of noises in mine- main one coming from behind the dash somewhere. Not looking forward to pulling that apart

I've had the third one. It comes and goes. I can feel it thru the loud pedal.

Its not so much a ships horn but a high speed vibration. I haven't worked out what it is but i'll keep you posted.

I think Ive found it and its on todays list of things to fix.
Tailgate door has a large plastic panel on the inside. Nice and flexible. Wizard has a similar panel but it has 2 strips of foam glued on. Bighorn doesnt Yet

Still got my vibration but its a lot less. Im thinking its a harmonic in the lifted suspension that just forms a noise in a very narrow range of conditions. 100kph if you push the clutch in it will do it but stop by the time the speed reaches 98 90kph it will do it on light throttle but stop by 92 unless you reduce throttle and 105 will do it on overrun. It doesnt make your teeth fall out every time now so Ive left it
