knocking noise driver's side rear of my Mu

Postby Davem » Tue Jan 15, 2013 7:33 am

Hi Team,

I get a loud dull knock whenever I go over a decent bump in the road. I suspect that it is caused by the weight of the spare wheel causing the door to jump in the latch.

Am I able to adjust the catch at all to stop this annoying noise????

if its from the door you can adjust the striker plate on the body work not the door up down or in and out the load the catch up just make sure not to adjust to much or the door wont fully latch closed

Also maybe a rear shock absorber or the tool kit/jack stored in the inner rear guard.

Hi guys,

Info for anyone with a similar annoying noise. Mine was definitely the weight of the spare wheel causing the door to move up & down on its securing catch. I adjusted the catch several times but the weight of the wheel kept pulling the catch back out of adjustment. I finally fixed it by tapping the locator right up & forward as far as it would go & using locktite on the bolts that hold it. Simple really, but I'm a bit slow on the uptake!!! Getting better with age!!!

Result: no more annoying bloody knock in the rear end.!!!!!!
