1989 bighorn workshop manual

Postby bushmanmatt » Fri Apr 23, 2010 11:59 am

Hi team I have been trying to source a workshop manual for my 1989 bighorn. It has a 4JB1 engine, haven't had it long and wanting to put new rings and bearings in. Would appreciate some help locating manual so I get it right back the way it should be. Great truck looking forward to having heaps of fun in it.
Thanks heaps in advance. Matt

You need to go to www.gmail.com and login as isuzunz pass 4jb1turbo Click on "all mail" then find the emails with the subject lines "trooper11 manuals" and "4jb1 engine manual" Download the attachments
TF4JE-WE-9791.PDF
Trooper II manual.rar
You need winrar or 7zip to open the rar file and this gives you a separate manual for the engine and a manual that covers everything except the engine in pdf form.

sorry guys, i dont know where to start. my observations:
is the air cleaner element affects the effiency of fuel comsumption?
because if im not using the air cleaner element my 4jg2 engine runs fast and it reach 12km per liter of diesel fuel.

The better your air cleaner breathes the better your performance and economy. No filter will be best of all but do not run your engine like this. The dust etc that goes through your engine will wear it out very quick. Better to fit a high flow filter ie good quality paper or something like a K&N or Finner filter

Thanks for the prompt reply guys.

How to define or check good quality air filter? Is there certain brand you could recommend high performance air filter?

In paper stick to the international brands ie fram valvolene etc
For reuseable Unifilter and K&N make a filter that will go in your airbox but you can modify some pod filters to fit as well. Avoid budget brands

Im confused
First you say without air cleaner you get 12 then with air cleaner you get 7
It should be obvious that difference is caused by your air cleaner. Either poor quality or worn out and clogged.
Also look at how you drive and where. Short trips city driving and hills are bad as is rapid acceleration

Sorry for the grave dig post...
I recently changed my air filter from a really filthy pod filter (bolted a pod adapter to the inside of the air box lid) to an isuzu genuine air filter (we have a gem isuzu truck and dmax shop here).
Fuel economy in 1 tank went from 10l/100km down to a pleasing 8.5l/100km, and its not using oil anymore :-)
the best part was the genuine filter is only $35 where the ryco ones were a fair bit more
