So far windows xp is still pretty much safe but who knows how long for. However the built in browser (Explorer 8 ) no longer is and cannot be patched. If you are running XP it might be wise to change your browser to one of the alternatives. Google will find the following easily enough. Im not placing links as they can be compromised and I dont want the blame.
Firefox is very good
Chrome is very good but tabbed browsing does a few funny things on this forum. Dont know why
Opera works well but not tested here
Safari works well and is a Windows port of the popular Mac version
Other browsers also exist but check they are not just skins for Explorer.ie seamonkey.
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
