I took last week off work and did a bit of work on my Bighorn.Cam Belt, water pump, replace exhaust manifold gasket (and as it turned out exhaust manifold due to 3 cracks), This all went as well as I would expect my local mechinic wasn't too keen on doing the work but was happy for me to do it under his supervision.
The first big issue came when everything was back togeather and as I drove home I noticed it was making huge clouds of white smoke (hide the titanic size clouds) when ever I easied of on the gas pedal going up hill (not on the flat or down hill). this turned out to be that the injector pump needed advancing and the thermostat was jamed open so adjust and replace and all is good. Injector pump is looking like it is going gto need either rebulit or replaced and the radiator is not looking to good
Today we went up skiing at the local feild and then about a third of the way back down the mountain road I hear a sudden screaming noise coming from under the hood and a whole lot of smoke - seazed alternator and burnt belt.
My truck is now sitting on a car trailer out at the Mechinics and I am siting here trying to decide if it is worth fixing it now or replacing it with another one and then fixing the other one as and when I can
