body lift on a wizard

Postby stardog » Sat Sep 19, 2015 5:31 pm

Just asking if any one has done a 2" body lift on a wizard and if they had any problems after doing it like selecting gears being a auto and brake lines dropping the radiator or other things.
And if a jackaroo- bighorn lift kit fits the wizard.

brake lines attach to the chassis not body. No issue there
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

may be a tad late on this but doing a body lift on the wizard is a piece of piss, i had to undo the steering column slightly at the box to let it move about 1mm, theres some bracket things midway down the truck going from the body to chassis that need to be removed , and you may need to loosen off the gas tank filler hose.
gear selector doesnt like to go into park easily afterwards but you can adjust that under the truck easy as , and the 4wd selector can sometimes be a pain to hget into 4L, i just pulled the rubber boot up and it fixed that

The brackets underneath are the supports for the seatbelt mounts, so they need to be cut and welded to suit the bodylift

Sounds pretty easy except the cutting and welding part for the seat belts I haven't looked under the wizard how they are fitted have to have a look tomorrow.
Thanks Rob for pointing that out about it and hamdog with the thing about the gear sticks.

you sure they are for the seatbelts? i just took mine out and left them out, they looked more like a driveshaft loop since they were right by the driveshaft and one either side of it

Yes, they are for the seat belts. I wonder if you could be failed a WOF if these have been welded?

If you weld it properly you will never know and the body lift needs certing in nz anyway so the cert will cover any mods done, i know mu, swb and lwb bighorns have them for the seatbelts, lwb bighorn also has the bar around the driveshaft, best way for gear levers is cut and weld them, its a bit of mucking around but well worth it

its the same, just have to adjust the auto gear lever instead of modifying the manual lever

I imagine the Auto gear gear lever would be trickier would it because of the internal latch or lock
