Car tracking

Postby johnhb » Sat Jan 07, 2012 7:44 pm

My car tracking device turned up today, works great, phone it, it hangs up and sms lat and long back, put it into Google maps, bingo
device the size of a pack of smokes, can cut off fuel, turn on mic to listen to talk in cabin etc.
Will tinker with it tomorrow, see if the GPS and GPRS aerial will work from under the dash.

You can get them for $100 from ebay. Free postage too from Hong Kong.
Just put a 2 Degrees sim card in, $5 with some credit...
I put everything in the glove box of the safari, plenty of steel above that!

phoned the device a few times on the way into 'sunny' wellington, this is what I got back as a text msg each time...

Cheap as chips now. In all our vehicles. Much better than alarms, especially if your vehicle is towed or nowhere near where you can hear it.

Copy this into AliExpress.com search:

COBAN GPS103B

Work brilliantly - call from your mobile.

Hang up.

Device texts u back.

Click on link in text - opens Googlemaps on your phone, and shows you vehicle location.

We put $20 topup on device sims once a year.

My advice with the number of 4wds being stolen recently - make sure you hide the tracker when you install it. Make sure well hidden out of sight.

They have internal batteries so even when main battery disconnected you can still find your vehicle.

Police love this - makes it faster to find the thieves.
