4JG2 Neutral Safety or TCM starting issues

Postby jaameswright » Fri Jun 01, 2018 10:06 am

Anyone have any insight into removal of needs of the TCM in a manual 94' 4JG2 Bighorn? The car was originally automatic, however was convertee through a donor car, but the silver transmission position sensor module was left connected. I was wondering if there was a way to remove this and allow my car to still start, because if I unplug it, the ECU thinks its in gear and wont start.

Any insight would be helpful.
TIA

Its just bridging 2 pins but you will have to study the wiring diagrams to work it out
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Looked further into this, how much of the TCM is actually required in the manual - want to completely de-clutter the car top to bottom just to play around and tinker and it seems theres a lot of TCM functionality that doesn't apply to the MUA. What could I look at doing to remove all the extra shit
