Ive just been involved with a Ford Festiva which I had to replace the headlight plugs on. Noticed fan belts were bad. One of them snapped when we took it off. Asked when the timing belt was done. He answered its a chain not a belt and doesnt need doing. I showed him proof its a belt and we arranged a real mechanic to change it. He had owned the car 6 years and done 250000km. The only sticker for a belt was at 120k and the car had 360k.
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
