Postby BloeDC » Thu Jun 20, 2019 9:05 pm

hi,
Got an isuzu trooper from1987 and it came whit an LW7 engine on a M75 transmission (manual) i bought it whit an 4JG2 engine (whit turbo) already installed. my question is if the M75 is still attached to the engine or doesn't fit this combination this because there's no id tag on the gearbox and need some parts
Thanks

I dont know the LW7 engine but my guess would be that the engine trans combo will fit but not a simple job. You will have to modify engine mounts gearbox mounts exhaust and driveshafts but it will be a great car when finished.
I would suspect no parts will swap from one gearbox to the other. Is the motor gearbox from a working car? Might be easier to get that back on the road

Hi,
The lw7 was the factory engine the 4jg2 was already installed whit gearbox when i bought it (in driving condition)
I wil drive this thing from europe to Africa and then to china so i take the car apart to replace some parts etc but i have no idea if this is the original gearbox or the gearbox that come factory whit the 4jg2 engine

LW7 is known to us as the C223 diesel. As far as I know the gearbox for the 4jg2 would not fit the c223 without modification so unless the bellhousing looks modified it is a MUA box for the 4jg2. The older box was quite a bit weaker so you probably have a good combination.

So 4jg2 and 4jg2t are the dame engine that the 4jg2t has a turbo mounted

With the flanged output shaft it does look like a MUA gearbox from a 4JG2. The starter motor is on the correct side and the clutch slave cylinder looks familiar.
Does it have any markings in the highlighted area of the attached photo?

Transmission swap
I have a 1991 Trooper with a MUA transmission and a 1998 Trooper parts car with a MSG transmission. My question is will the MSG transmission swap into the 1991 Trooper, without a major problem?
