4JB1 Running on 3 cylinders when cold??

4jB1 running on 3 cylinders when cold in the mornings some times? also blows quite a bit of smoke on first start up, any help appreciated, runs on 4 cylinders after a bit of a rev up

Keep an eye on the glow plug light. First dont start the car before it goes out. Second it will stay on for 1 second if the coolant is above 5C and 30 seconds if below that. If it runs smooth when the light stays on its running pretty normal
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Sometimes glowing twice can help.

I turn it on as soon as light goes out, always scared to keep it glowing incase I burn out glow plugs?

When ther light goes out so do the glow plugs. 4jb1 doesnt have a very efficient cold start system not that it needs it
