Wheel hub locknut socket

Postby lukemclaughlin » Thu Nov 17, 2022 8:06 pm

I’m after a socket used to tension the wheel hub locknut for the front wheel bearings on a bighorn. It has 2 prongs that connect into the locknut. Any parts stores in Christchurch that sell this?

I use a nail punch and hammer
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them

Found this on Trademe, it’s on various other US and australian websites but shipping works to be more expensive so I went through Trademe. The diameter between the two pins is only slightly too small, less than 1mm. I sanded the inside edge of both pins with 80 grit and it fit the locknut perfectly. This now lets me torque the locknut to 30nm to seat the bearings and then helps set the required preload.
