Have you considered the toyota 1uzfe instead? I dont know about NZ but they are alot easier to get parts for then the nissan V8 in aus.
Also another option is a toyota 3rz (2.7 petrol) engine out of a hilux, do a search as you can get alot of power out of them (some with turbo set ups with over 900hp) and if you go this route you will not have to worry about gearbox and transfer adaptors as you can use the hilux box and transfer case.

i cant find in much of a way to rebuild threads but thats cool if i went this way id idealy make a girdle for the bottem end find somone to do some head work then talk to frank from the one stop turbo shop out in waipara .. i laughed at my mate when he brought home a truck turbo but by the looks of it these 3rz can really breath neway thanks mark for the idea
