4jb1t water in oil

Postby jellis » Wed Dec 29, 2021 7:05 pm

Hey lads, I've got a 4jb1t here that I previously had rebuilt but had massive dramas with oil leaks. Anyway. Fast forward 4 or 5 years and I'm wanting to get the mu on the road again so I have resealed the engine and got it back in the car.
My problems are my oil pressure is reading 8kg/cm and I've got water in my oil.

There was water in the sump when I pulled it apart to re seal it after sitting.

Anyone got any ideas. I'm about 1 more engine removal away from burning it to the ground.

Cheers.
cheers, Josh

Is it possible oil got into the oil while sitting? Otherwise leaky head or leaky oil cooler or leaky turbo

I remember a long time ago some body had a simular problem.
Turned out to be corrision in the block between no 3 and 4 pistons cant remember if it was the piston sleeve or a water gallery.
But the guy had the motor sitting for a while and went to rebuild it and found the water in the oil problem then.
I will have to have a look on the old club isuzu web site when i get some spare time.

As the engine runs the question would be if its pressurizing the radiator. If its not then oil cooler followed by turbo would be your culprits. If its pressurizing then head gasket is the first option and it all goes downhill from there. It would make an interesting video burning a 4jb1 to the ground.
As for the Mu you know you want to put an LS1 in there

I think the LS1 engine would be worth more than the car now.
I did see someone in WA asking 12k for a 93 MU :o

Thanks guys, I'm away for work at the moment but will have another look at it when I get back. Wasn't pressurising the radiator. So will pull the oil cooler off and see if I can find one to replace it with.

Think I'd rather go the 4jj1 route and probbaly will in another shell when I can find one that's reasonably priced. Ls1 would be a cracker though.
