4JJ1 Check Trans Light

Postby navin6037 » Thu Apr 02, 2020 2:38 am

Hi all, it's been days since the lockdown and I'm getting an issue with my Dmax 2012, 4jj1 3.0 Auto. Been troubleshooting for many days still can't solve it

Problem found: Check trans light on, causing speedometer isn't working, so gear won't be shifting.

Symptoms:
1.when braking, speedometer works to the speed we are driving. If im driving at 40mph, speedo won't run and check trans will blink and if i press the brake, speedo meter will jumps to 40mph and reducing (the moment i give a bit of gas, starts to drop again)

2. When drive normally, and if i drive to an uneven road, somehow it becomes ok and speedometer works and every error gone. Gear shifting will be normal. And after 10 to 15 minutes(not fixed) , check trans will popped out again and Speedometer stops working

Parts changed: input speed sensor and output speed sensor, accelerator pedal sensor.

What should i check next? no check engine light is turned on, no abs light.

Speedo sensor was the cause of those exact symptoms in my Wizard

Hii geeves, thanks for the reply. But we changed that unit to a new one already. Still the same.

Sounds more like a broken wire, they did have issues with the main plus on the transmission having corrosion in it but that caused shift faults normally

Continuity test parts of your wiring loom if possible and look at plugs/pins to do with your speed sensor/transmission.

Had you had any work/maintenance carried out on you vehicle leading up to this fault?

Just purchased this used shell unit, then bought a used engine only.

Latest update: went to obd2 check, and cleared out ecm and txm, but abs can't be cleared.
