1996 wizard starting issues

Postby aqd813wizard » Tue Aug 23, 2022 7:08 pm

My 1996 wizard (auto) fails to start when turning key I get a single click from I think the starter relay but nothing else.
Starter motor is only couple months old battery and connections seem fine as for as I can tell and is not the auto park switch.
I’m lost..

Try wiggling the gear selector while trying to start. Does the park indicator show all the time?

Intermittent? Run a test lamp to see if you have voltage at the solinoid when it happens

I’ve ruled out everything in the circuit after the relay as when jumping the two small terminals on the relay to the battery the truck cranks and starts

I had that for 2 years but only when it was hot. I ended up running a hot wire from the solinoid to beside the battery as it often happened when stalling in a most inopportune place. (hotwire was run after hitting a tree root in thigh deep water and haveing to get someone afraid of any electricity to hold a wire on the solinoid while I tapped the other end on the battery. In my case it was a bad 2 year old starter. Auto sparky told me to never submerge the starter "again"
Have you replace that relay?

Was considering wiring in a switch as a sort’s of push button start if I can’t figure out my problem…
Yes I have tried replacing the relay
