Irmscher R Lokka

Postby DAVIS » Mon Aug 30, 2021 12:40 pm

Hi Guys,

First time posting but been reading for a while, helped out a lot thanks!

I have a 1990 UBS55 Irmscher R that I'm looking at getting a Lokka to go in the front diff.
I've heard that the Irmscher R has different diffs than the others? Or is it just different ratios?
Does this effect fitment of a Lokka?

Also in terms of install I've heard some mixed stories including needing to jack up the engine to get the diff out..
Is this actually required?

Cheers,

Only difference was possibly ration which does not matter when fitting a Loka. No need to touch the engine. However its still a big job. You need to take both hub assemblys off and remove them from the cv axles. Loosen the 4 bolts each side that hold the cv into the diff. An easier option is to split the inner cv by undoing the boot and flicking out the spring clip. Undo the 4 bolts that hold the diff to the chassis while the diff is supported by a jack. Lower the diff and fit lokka. Dont you love it when the say assemble in reverse order.
Sanding your knuckles before starting work can help. That way you cant skin them
